AECOM Hosts Wounded Warrior Project Workforce-development Roundtable

May 2, 2013

AECOM Technology Corporation, a leading provider of professional technical and management support services for public and private clients in more than 140 countries around the world, recently hosted a roundtable on behalf of Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) to discuss the merits and benefits of employing former members of the armed services.

Held on April 10 in New York City, AECOM and other business leaders met with WWP representatives to explore sustainable solutions for matching this country’s deep pool of job-ready military, veteran talent with the employment needs of the industry.

Discussions focused on two primary challenges that returning service personnel face: translating skills acquired through active duty into equivalent skills required for civilian employment and navigating the civilian hiring process. As a result of this roundtable, the group committed to becoming active mentors to wounded warriors and to forming a working group that will create an industry standard skills reference matrix for hiring managers and WWP employment seekers.

“AECOM is committed to its partnership with the Wounded Warrior Project and supporting the organization’s efforts to prepare former service members for civilian employment in our profession,” said Gregory Sauter, AECOM executive vice president and chief corporate officer. “Aligning their talents and leadership abilities with employment opportunities is a key part of our efforts to guide the next generation within our industry.”
