Alcoa Takes Full Ownership in Tianjin Joint Venture
Alcoa purchased the 30% interest in the Alcoa Closure Systems International (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. joint venture currently owned by its partner China Suntrust Investment Group Co., Ltd. The joint venture was established in 1994 to produce plastic closures for beverages.
Alumar Consortium Starts Up Smelter Expansion in São LuÃs, Brazil
Alcoa started its third expansion at the Alumar Consortium in São LuÃs, Brazil. When the 100 new pots of the expansion are up and running, plant capacity will total 440,000 metric-tons-per-year, a 17% increase over current capacity.
Alcan, Alcoa, and Government of Guinea Sign Refinery Agreement

The creation of an environment, health, and safety management system for an expansion project at Alcoa’s industrial complex in São LuÃs, Brazil, resulted in zero lost workdays and a total recordable rate below 0.24–the best for any recent construction work carried out by Alcoa.
