Today, the American Sustainable Business Council Action Fund (ASBC Action Fund) launched a series of new television ads in Maine, New Hampshire and Ohio in support of Gina McCarthy for EPA Administrator.
“In her distinguished career, Gina McCarthy has demonstrated that she is willing to find market solutions and make sure that environmental protection goes hand-in-hand with economic prosperity,” said David Levine, American Sustainable Business Council Action Fund CEO. “The business community looks forward to working with her as EPA Administrator, and is hopeful that the Senate will confirm her in the coming weeks.”
The ads (available here) highlight broad business support for Gina McCarthy. The script reads:
“As Gina McCarthy’s confirmation is debated in the chambers of Congress, we think there will be very little debate at the local Chamber of Commerce.”
“Gina has spent her career making sure environmental protection and economic interest work together. That’s why a recent poll showed that 62% of small businesses support her for EPA Administrator.”
“Senator[s] Collins/Ayotte and Shaheen/Portman has/have always championed small business. Tell her/them/him that folks here know they can do business with Gina McCarthy”
The mid-six figure ad buy will run in Maine, New Hampshire and Ohio today and tomorrow.
Recent Lake Research polling commissioned by ASBC shows that large majorities of small business owners support clean energy policies. Another PPP poll commissioned by Small Business Majority had similar findings, and showed that a majority of small business owners support Gina McCarthy for EPA Administrator and think that the president’s nominations deserve a timely up or down vote.
“Businesses need an EPA Administrator who understands U.S. enterprise, and protects the environment in a way that encourages innovation and growth,” said Christine Hughes, owner of Village Bakery in Athens, Ohio. “We support Gina McCarthy for EPA Administrator because she is a friend of both the environment and of business.”
Gina McCarthy has broad support from environmental advocates, business leaders, and politicians on both sides of the aisle. During her 25+ year tenure, McCarthy has worked under five Republican governors and has been an advocate for policies that simultaneously benefit the environment and the U.S. business sector.
The American Sustainable Business Council Action Fund (ASBC Action Fund) is an independent, nonpartisan organization, which works to pass legislation that supports business and builds a sustainable economy.
