Business Leaders Applaud Confirmation of New EPA Head

July 19, 2013

The American Sustainable Business Council (ASBC), which represents more than 165,000 businesses nationwide, applauds the Senate for voting today to confirm Gina McCarthy as the new Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). David Levine, CEO of ASBC, said:

“We applaud the Senate for confirming Ms. McCarthy, a leader who understands that economic prosperity is not at odds with environmental protection. The Senate’s action on Ms. McCarthy’s nomination means that EPA can now focus on key challenges such as drafting rules on carbon pollution, protecting the nation’s water supplies and leveling the playing field for green chemistry and safer alternatives to dangerous chemicals. We look forward to a constructive working relationship with Administrator McCarthy to find solutions that benefit both the environment and the economy.”

The American Sustainable Business Council and its member organizations represent more than 165,000 businesses nationwide, and more than 300,000 entrepreneurs, executives, managers and investors.
