Coca-Cola Enterprises Publishes 2006 Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Report

ATLANTA, GA – July 9, 2007 – Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE), the world’s largest marketer, distributor, and producer of Coca-Cola products, has published its second company-wide Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Report. The Report is a comprehensive look at Coca-Cola Enterprises business and its impacts on local communities throughout the eight countries where it does business in North America and western Europe. The Report follows the G3 guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and focuses on five areas of corporate responsibility: corporate governance, workplace, marketplace, environment, and community.

Highlights in the Report include:

Corporate Governance:

  • Signed the United Nations Global Compact in early 2007
  • Enhanced governance of corporate responsibility by updating charter and renaming Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Committee of the Board of Directors
  • Workplace:

  • Created global Communications Council to promote open internal communication
  • Developed award-winning program to address age diversity in Great Britain
  • Marketplace:

  • Spent more than US$140 million in supplier diversity, 40 percent higher than 2005
  • Received sales team awards in Great Britain, Canada, and Belgium
  • Environment:

  • Improved water efficiency by six percent
  • Introduced energy efficient initiatives that will reduce lighting energy consumption by 50 percent
  • Community:

  • Provided almost US$28.2 million to community investment programs
  • Paid US$4 billion in salaries and benefits, US$11 billion with suppliers, and more than US$1.2 billion in corporate taxes
  • Coca-Cola Enterprises will continue to work to improve its reporting capabilities and data-gathering systems. The company is committed to developing greater transparency in reporting and improving the quality and quantity of the data reported.
