Colgate-Palmolive Company Publishes Global HIV/AIDS Policy Statement

December 2, 2008

NEW YORK, NY. – December 1, 2008 – Colgate-Palmolive Company (NYSE:CL) today announced the publication of a Global HIV/AIDS Policy Statement that details the company’s commitment to confronting the HIV/AIDS epidemic to minimize its impact on its global workforce, their families and the communities where they live and work. The policy statement outlines a fair and uniform approach to the effective prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS for all Colgate employees and their families applicable across the more than 80 countries where the company operates.

“We understand that as a global employer we can play a significant role in confronting this epidemic. Through our Global HIV/AIDS Policy Statement we hope to influence attitudes, change behaviors and make a difference in fighting HIV/AIDS,” said Colgate-Palmolive Company President and Chief Executive Officer Ian Cook.

Colgate developed the policy statement with input and expertise from external stakeholders such as the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria; shareholder groups led by Walden Asset Management; and local organizations in Africa, Asia and Latin-America. Colgate employees around the world and Colgate’s senior management also played an integral role in the policy statement’s development.

This global strategy is based on Colgate’s three shared values: Caring, Global Teamwork and Continuous Improvement. The policy has the flexibility for each geographical region to plan and implement programs based upon the needs of local employees, their families and the surrounding communities.
