Emerging Social Entrepreneurs & Nonprofit Leaders To Apply for 50 Opportunity Collaboration Fellowships

January 29, 2010

50 tuition-discounted Fellows from all over the world will attend 2010 Opportunity Collaboration-the innovative, esteemed poverty alleviation “un-conference”-thanks to generous support from the Cordes Foundation.

Cordes Fellows will attend the Opportunity Collaboration on October 15-20, 2010, along with 250 other Delegates-proven nonprofit leaders, for-profit social entrepreneurs, funders and social investors. Over four days in Ixtapa, Mexico, Fellows and Delegates will explore unprecedented levels of collaboration and reach well beyond the boundaries of conventional poverty alleviation.

“The Opportunity Collaboration,” says CEO Jonathan C. Lewis, “is a unique gathering marked by a generosity of spirit and a commitment to relinquishing institution egos. The goal is to accelerate the effectiveness of anti-poverty organizations.”

University of the Pacific Certification

Fellows will earn a certificate of completion from the University of the Pacific’s Global Center for Social Entrepreneurship. The university’s on-site professional training symposium will explore areas critical to the success of organizations and individuals combating poverty.

Criteria

Successful applicants, like all Delegates, are catalytic for-profit and nonprofit organization leaders with a demonstrated commitment to economic justice and poverty alleviation, pragmatic vision, passionate tenacity, non-ideological activism, and a strong ethical grounding. A core selection metric is the candidate’s potential to leverage and benefit from attendance at the Opportunity Collaboration, including the ability to effectively network with seasoned change-makers and connect with potential partners to help grow their ideas and scale their ventures. Financial need is also a consideration.

Applicants will be reviewed by a distinguished panel of jurors including chairperson Ron Cordes, Co-Chairman, Genworth Financial Wealth Management and President, Cordes Foundation, as well as Jerry Hildebrand, Director of the Global Center for Social Entrepreneurship at the University of the Pacific.
