May 6, 2000

Federal-Mogul’s Michigan City,

Indiana, wiper products team announces they have completed two million hours

worked without a lost-time accident. This milestone began in November 1998

and was achieved on April 14, 2000.

“Each and every member of our team truly understands and values the

importance of a strong safety program,” said Michigan City Plant Manager Tim

Dan. “This tremendous accomplishment is directly attributable to the safety

programs in place and the employees’ ability to carry them out.”

The safety excellence this facility has achieved was rewarded last year

when the Michigan City plant won the Federal-Mogul Health and Safety

Leadership Award ‘Best of the Year’ for 1999. This is the second time this

facility has achieved two million hours worked without a lost-time accident

milestone in the past four years.

In addition to these achievements, the Michigan City facility is currently

implementing a Behavior-Based Safety Team and working towards ISO 14001

certification.

“Our team understands that we must continue the efforts to enhance our

safety performance,” said Human Resources Supervisor Jay Rudolph. “Programs,

such as the Behavior-Based Safety Team increase employee involvement in this

critical area.”
