Fireman's Fund Launches New 'Knowledge Site' at Greenbuild(R) Conference, Focusing on Climate Change and Energy

November 20, 2008

BOSTON, Mass. – November 19, 2008 – Climate change, sustainability and energy are the focus of the new Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company Knowledge Site (www.knowledge.firemansfund.com), which launches today during the national GreenBuild conference where Fireman’s Fund is participating
as an exhibitor and sponsor.

The Knowledge Site was designed to present climate change and sustainability issues from different perspectives while focusing on proven solutions and concrete case studies.

The Web site is part of an initiative started by Fireman’s Fund’s parent company, Allianz SE, in 2005 known as Allianz Knowledge (www.knowledge.allianz.com). Allianz is an advocate of social change and development through a concerted effort and believes opportunities for interactive networking offered by the Internet help provide knowledge and dialogue.

The Knowledge Site ventures beyond the corporate horizon. It looks for practices among non-government organizations and other companies, drawing on expertise from the finance, science and political sectors. A growing network of leading non-governmental partners, such as the World Wide Fund for Nature and the U.S. Green Building Council, add a non-corporate perspective to the site.

“Fireman’s Fund is pleased to partner with Allianz Knowledge to offer this unique ‘Knowledge Site’in the United States focusing on climate change, sustainability and energy,” said Greg Tacchetti, chief administrative officer of Fireman’s Fund. “The Knowledge Site demonstrates our commitment to offering sustainable products, services, and solutions to reduce our carbon footprint and help our customers do the same.”

Fireman’s Fund led the insurance industry in 2006 with the first green insurance for commercial buildings and has continued to expand its green products and services across all lines of business including real estate, hotels, restaurants, manufacturers, builder’s risk, marine, homeowners, commercial auto, recycling debris after a loss, and green loss control. In 2008 Fireman’s Fund became an Energy Star(R) Partner.
