Green Jobs Award Accepting Applicants

August 25, 2010

SJF Advisory Services and Green For All are pleased to announce the first Green Jobs Award program. With support from the Citi Foundation and the Rockefeller Foundation, SJF Advisory Services and Green For All seek to identify, recognize, and promote private companies that are leaders in quality green job creation.

Bonny Moellenbrock, SJF Advisory Services Executive Director said, “We are excited to partner with Green For All on this inaugural Award Program. We hope that by acknowledging the tremendous work these companies are doing, we can support their growth, and inspire other business leaders to follow their lead.”

The program will honor businesses that are making valuable contributions to both the economy and the environment. Privately held companies with at least $500,000 in revenue, and a business model that preserves or enhances environmental quality are eligible to apply. Applicants will be judged on the quality of their jobs and benefits, the diversity of employment opportunities, and their level of community engagement.

According to Green For All CEO Phaedra Ellis-Lamkins, “The Green Jobs Award will provide clarity around what constitutes a ‘green job.’ By highlighting companies whose business models are focused on the health of the environment and their employees, we will provide real-world examples of green jobs that exist across the country.”

Winners will receive a package of complimentary business services and be recognized in New York City on November 16th at an awards event and in a supplement in Sustainable Industries Trendwatch 2011 edition. Data on all applicants will also be compiled, creating a database of innovative green job creators that help tell the story of the green economy’s potential. Online award applications can be downloaded from www.greenjobsaward.org and submitted until August 31st.
