Mobilising development: Vodafone’s latest CR Report

June 3, 2009

June 2, 2009 – Vodafone’s latest CR Report, published today, highlights how the company’s expansion in emerging markets is facilitating economic development by increasing access to communications.

“Mobilising Development” outlines the challenges Vodafone has experienced in its emerging markets. It includes a special focus on Vodafone’s new operating company in India and contains the results of recent research exploring the socio-economic impact of mobile in this rapidly growing economy.

The rapid expansion of the network means one of Vodafone’s biggest issues is how to control greenhouse gas emissions. To address this Vodafone recently announced a target to reduce CO2 emissions by 50% by 2020 in its established markets. This year’s report outlines how the company aims to achieve this ambitious goal.

Vodafone is also exploring how its products and services can help other industries cut their carbon footprint, and is increasing its focus on managing climate impacts in the supply chain.

Vodafone’s social and environmental performance in 2008/09 is reported in its signature ‘we said, we have, we will’ format.
