PGA Pro to Lead Clinic for Disabled Military at Charity Golf Open Raising Money for Paralyzed Veterans

WHAT:

The 2011 Paralyzed Veterans Golf Open is again expected to raise more than $300,000 to support vocational rehabilitation centers that provide wounded veterans with the skills they need to obtain good careers and reenter the workforce. Money raised in previous tournaments has allowed for the opening of two additional vocational rehabilitation centers, and the proceeds from this year will ensure their continued operation.

Media are invited to capture the morning golf clinic for veterans with disabilities, led by PGA golf pro Al Fenstomocher, who specializes in training injured players. The clinic and tournament will also showcase unique, adaptive golf cart technology that lifts and stands players, allowing them to play even if they are paralyzed. Media are also invited to capture footage from the opening event and tournament and interview select veterans and other participants in the golf tournament. Other participants include members of Congress, military and government, local sports stars, and more. All participating veterans will receive free golf equipment from non-profit charity, Bunkers in Baghdad.
