Qwest Donates $10,000 to Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M–(BUSINESS WIRE)–June 6, 2007–The Qwest

Foundation has announced a $10,000 grant to the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce (AHCC) Barelas Job Opportunity Center (BJOC) to further its bilingual Web Wizards Project, the company announced today.

The AHCC/BJOC Web Wizards Project will collaborate with two elementary schools in Albuquerque’s South Valley neighborhoods to provide Web site capabilities, web master training, and technical assistance for teachers to develop and keep the new site current and interesting.

“Qwest has a long-standing tie with the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce and its education programs,” said Loretta Armenta, Qwest president for New Mexico. “Education is the key to a brighter future, and the Hispano chamber is opening doors to that brighter tomorrow. The Web Wizards Project will also train parents to utilize a new website to learn more about their children’s school, activities and achievement, as well as the volunteer and governance opportunities at the school. This project opens up the AHCC Computer lab to train parents of each elementary school to access the Internet, school and

classroom information, to e-mail teachers, access newsletters, get access to student information and to learn ways to assist in their children’s learning via the Web.
