March 22, 2007 – GlaxoSmithKline’s 2006 Corporate Responsibility Report is now available on their website via www.reportalert.info/ra/GSK220307.htm

Highlights in the report include:

  • a total of £302 million invested in global community activities, product donations and charitable contributions ““ representing 3.9% of pre-tax profit
  • our work around the world in strengthening sales and marketing codes
  • 206 million tablets of Combivir and Epivir supplied to the developing world. 86 million of these came directly from GSK and a further 120 million were supplied by generic companies in sub”“Saharan Africa that have received voluntary licences from GSK

The report covers how GSK addresses and manages issues arising from its business activities, reflecting its belief that good corporate responsibility performance supports the business strategy – protecting and enhancing relationships and its reputation with doctors, governments and patients.

GSK’s core business ““ the research and production of medicines ““ makes a valuable contribution to society. But GSK believes it needs to address complex issues associated with the research, manufacture and sale of medicines – from the publication of research results and marketing practices of pharmaceutical sales representatives, to the use of animals in research and the environmental impacts of manufacturing processes.
