SEATTLE, WA–Safeco was cited as one of the 100 Best Corporate Citizens in the May issue of Business Ethics magazine. This is the second time Safeco has been recognized since the magazine began its list of 100 Best Corporate Citizens in 2000. Safeco advanced its ranking this year to 16th from 93rd in 2002.
The publication uses independent quantitative research to rank the 1,000 largest U.S.-based public companies on their social responsibility and behavior with major stakeholder groups, including employees, women and minorities, customers, local communities and shareholders.
Business Ethics magazine has lauded Safeco for its focus on Strengthening America’s Neighborhoods and the development of programs that bring people together.
“Being there for others in their time of need is what insurance is all about,” said Wendy Stauff, Safeco community relations manager. “We build on that promise through our commitment to the community and are proud to be recognized for supporting vibrant, safe neighborhoods.”
