Scandic has been awarded a Gold Medal for its sustainability work by the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA). Scandic is the first hotel chain in Europe to receive this accolade*
The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) runs a sustainability project called ICARUS, whose purpose is to promote sustainability in the travel industry and highlight best practice in this field.
GBTA’s board was impressed by the high standard of Scandic’s work on these issues, and in particular the innovative leadership shown, the industry collaborations and the way all three social, environmental and economic aspects are addressed in Scandic’s international sustainability programme.
“We are naturally extremely proud and pleased that our long-term commitment to the environment has been recognised in this way,” says Inger Mattsson, Manager Sustainable Business at Scandic. “We hope that this is the start of something big and that it will help travel buyers to choose the best suppliers. We believe this area is set to grow in the future and as it does, we will already be there on GBTA’s list.”
* Other actors that’s been awarded are Carlson Wagonlit Travel, Green Hotels Global and Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants
