WHO: Starbucks Coffee Company
WHAT: Starbucks has issued its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Annual Report detailing activities and initiatives for fiscal year 2002 (Oct. 1, 2001 – Sept. 29, 2002). The report covers Starbucks sustainable business practices throughout its supply chain – from coffee bean to coffee cup – including the company’s efforts to help improve the lives of coffee farmers, its commitment to the environment and its support for local communities.
WHY: Starbucks wishes to be as well known for its good work, both in the communities where it operates and the countries where its coffees are produced, as for the quality of its coffee. Starbucks believes in communicating openly and honestly with its stakeholders about its business practices and social and environmental initiatives
This year Starbucks has taken additional steps to provide transparency and to assure its stakeholders that the information is accurate by having the report externally verified by Moss Adams, a certified public accounting firm.
