UNFCU Foundation announced today that it has awarded grants to 11 organizations that align with its mission to sustain a path out of poverty through education and healthcare for women and children in developing countries and disadvantaged areas of New York City.
The organizations and projects supported by UNFCU Foundation in 2017 are:

Batey Relief Alliance providing job skills training and health services to lift families out of extreme poverty in the Dominican Republic

The Floating Hospital specialized psychological services, counseling, job mentoring for women suffering domestic abuse in New York’s inner city

Keep a Child Alive program for HIV/AIDS-affected families in Sub-Saharan Africa

The Khaled Hosseini Foundation educating girls in Afghanistan

Kilimanjaro Initiative youth leadership in Kibera, Nairobi via the power of sport and self-belief

The Long Island City YMCA mentoring at-risk youth in New York City

Trickle Up initiative to kick-start small business for indigenous women in Guatemala

UN Foundation Girl Up economic and life skills training for girls in Guatemala

United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) treating and re-integrating fistula survivors in Nigeria

United Nations Women’s Guild educational and medical services to Syrian refugees on the Turkish border

Village Enterprise micro-enterprise, sustainable business development in Northern Uganda
“We have a social responsibility to support the education of children, provide women with access to critical healthcare and the business skills they need to overcome poverty,” said Pamela Agnone, president and director of the UNFCU Foundation. “Together with our partners, UNFCU Foundation looks forward to another productive year to help ensure that no one is left behind.”
UNFCU Foundation received 100 grant applications and based its selection on the following criteria:

Alignment with its mission

Strong track record over at least a three-year period or an extended pilot period

Sustainability with access to additional support

Ability to track the impact of the project or organization through reporting of results

Direct impact to women and children in need, with long-term benefit
UNFCU Foundation more than doubled its impact last year and transformed the lives of more than 10,000 women and youth at the grassroots level.
Donors can contribute to the UNFCU Foundation by various means, including by credit or debit card donations.
