Voltage Optimisation Technology proven capacity to save energy

Voltage optimisation is a key component of every energy efficiency programme that has been overlooked in the push to save energy. The Voltage Optimisation technology could save British companies and organisations an average 13% in electricity consumption and carbon emissions and has long been recognised by the Carbon Trust.

On its own, Voltage Optimisation delivers savings of up to 25% on your electricity bills, increases equipment lifetime and reduces maintenance costs.

The voltage supplied to the majority of sites is above the level it needs to be. This leads to losses in many types of equipment. As electricity is delivered, voltage drops across the grid, thus it needs to be fed into the system at a higher level.

Voltage optimisation works by efficiently reducing supply voltages to around 220 V, protecting against supply fluctuations and correcting power quality problems

Supermarkets, hotels, manufacturing facilities, schools, prisons and government or local authority buildings could all benefit from voltage optimisation technology. Hospitals, in particular, with their high rate of constant electricity consumption could particularly benefit with the installation of voltage optimisation.

There are 400,000 buildings in the UK that could benefit from voltage optimisation technology. However, although the installation of voltage optimisation systems in the country is increasing, it has been on an ad hoc basis.

Ifti Akbar, Managing Director at Envido said, “Voltage Optimisation will make all the difference in reducing carbon emissions if it is used by commercial and public sector buildings.”

Envido can reduce your supply voltage by installing a voltage regulator on the incoming main supply. The regulator will reduce the voltage on each phase to the required level whilst ensuring that phase voltages are correctly balanced.
