World Resources Institute Announces Nine Finalists for Mexico's Green Business Competition

WHAT: New Ventures Investor Forum in Mexico. The World Resources Institute’s New Ventures convenes the Investor Forum twice a year in Latin America to provide entrepreneurs with a venue to showcase their businesses and to facilitate the transfer of venture capital to sustainable enterprises.

WHEN: Thursday, November 18, 2004 to Friday, November 19, 2004

WHERE: Hotel W, Mexico City, Mexico

WHO: Three top enterprises will be selected from among the finalists:

  • AdobeTerra, adobe brick technology
  • Aires de Campo, marketer of organic products
  • Aqua Consult Internacional, sustainable aquaculture
  • Bioplaneta, service of sustainable goods
  • Ecocreto, permeable pavement system
  • Energía MP, combustible efficiency
  • Nixma, tortilla technology
  • Nova Energía, geothermal technologies
  • Sustenta Soluciones, low-impact corporate gifts

    WHY: New Ventures started working in Mexico in 2004 to create tools to foster the development of sustainable enterprises. After four years of operation, New Ventures entrepreneurs have attracted more than $10 million in investments.

  • Dr. Herbert Kohler, chief environmental officer of DaimlerChrysler, will deliver the keynote speech on November 18. Finalists will present their business plans later that afternoon. Winners will be announced at noon on November 19.
